Morgan Wallen’s ‘Dangerous’ earns the No. 1 spot on Billboard 200 for sixth week

Morgan Wallen Dangerous: The Double Album is No. 1 for a sixth week on the Billboard 200 as of Sunday (February 21). The run marks the most weeks atop the list for a male artist since Drake’s Views spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at the top in 2016. Only three albums have spent at least six weeks at No. 1 in the last five years: Dangerous, Taylor Swift’s Folklore (eight nonconsecutive weeks, 2020) and Drake’s Views (13).

Earlier in the month, video footage surfaced of the 27-year-old Wallen using a racial slur, which resulted in him being suspended from his record label and ineligible for some music awards.

Luke Combs shares new song ‘Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old’

Luke Combs posted a video of himself playing an acoustic version “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old,” which he wrote with Channing Wilson and Rob Snyder. In the new song, Combs sings that these days, “I spend most my happy hours here at home…I’m in the middle of growin’ up and gettin’ old.”

Combs was also just named to the TIME100 Next list, which included a tribute written by Garth Brooks. Brooks wrote, “In this age of self-promotion, Luke Combs is letting everybody else do the talking for him. That’s big in country music, which is all about sincerity and humility. And—despite his achievements, including winning Best Album at the 2020 Country Music Awards—Luke has both of those in spades. He realizes that being a star is not up to him: the people will confirm it.”

Michael B. Jordan to produce Muhammad Ali series with Jay-Z for Amazon

Michael B. Jordan announced that his production company has signed an expanded deal with Amazon Studios to produce films and TV. Jordan’s company Outlier Society will develop a new Muhammad Ali limited series, to be executive produced by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.

Jordan said, “It’s an incredible honor and I bring tons of respect to it. It’s a healthy weight to carry, to be able to tell the story of Muhammad Ali. It’s called The Greatest right now and we’re partnered with Roc Nation on the music side of things. It’s a project where we’ve partnered with the estate and we’ll be able to tell this story with no red tape. It’s a limited series that will really dive into the life of Muhammad Ali.”

Jordan added that he will not be acting in the project, and will instead will be working behind the scenes: “People know Muhammad Ali from his boxing days, but this is an opportunity to go beyond the ring, and more into the man. It’s going to give more of a 360 degree view of who he was. And no, I’m not playing that guy, I can say that for sure, and we are still in early stages here and can’t say too much. We are still putting the pieces together, but it feels like something to look forward to in the future.”

FBI investigating NY Gov. Cuomo administration’s handling of nursing homes amid pandemic

The FBI and the US attorney’s office in Brooklyn, NY have begun an investigation into how New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration handled the state’s nursing home crisis during the coronavirus pandemic. Neither Cuomo nor any administration official has at this point been accused of any wrongdoing.

According to a report Wednesday, the investigation is focused on top members of Cuomo’s coronavirus task force. Members of Cuomo’s task force include New York State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker and Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa. The latter drew scrutiny this month after she seemingly admitted the governor’s team withheld information related to COVID-19-related deaths at nursing homes.

Cuomo has faced bipartisan scrutiny over his handling of the nursing home crisis, focusing on Cuomo’s March 25 memo directing nursing homes to accept recovering COVID-19 patients at their facilities. The order was later rescinded.

Conservative radio show host Rush Limbaugh dies at 70

Longtime conservative commentator and radio show host Rush Limbaugh has died at the age of 70, his wife announced Wednesday on his program. Limbaugh had been receiving treatment for lung cancer. A statement posted to his website stated, “In loving memory of Rush Hudson Limbaugh III, the greatest of all time.”

Limbaugh, who has long been considered one of the country’s top conservative pundits and Republican supporters, received the Presidential Medial of Freedom from President Donald Trump last year. He announced that he had terminal lung cancer last fall.

Several prominent Republican politicians praised Limbaugh upon news of his death Wednesday. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul tweeted, “RIP to a legend and a patriot. Not many people can say they revolutionized and stayed at the top of an industry the way he did.” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said, “Rush is the [greatest of all time] of radio, of conservative media and of inspiring a loyal army of American patriots.”

Limbaugh began his radio career in 1971 at age 20 as a disc jockey at Pennsylvania station WIXZ. He launched an afternoon radio show in Kansas City four years later, followed by stops in Sacramento and New York City before his “The Rush Limbaugh Show” went into syndication.
