Gwyneth Paltrow is speaking out about her personal experience with COVID-19, saying she had the disease “early on” and sharing that it left her with long-lasting symptoms. Paltrow wrote on her Goop website: “I had COVID-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog.” The 48-year-old actress revealed that she had tests done in January and it “showed really high levels of inflammation” in her body and explained that hers “was a case where the road to healing was going to be longer than usual.”

Paltrow said that she has been taking care of her health by refraining from consuming sugar and alcohol. Millions in Texas still without power as death toll rises after major snowfall and record cold

Millions of people are still without electricity, hundreds of flights were canceled and the death toll rose due to a major winter storm spanning from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic that produced deep snow record-breaking cold temperatures.

The storm hit Texas hard, a state which rarely sees extreme cold and snow, resulting in more than 4 million people in the state to lose power on Tuesday. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said in a news conference that 1.3 million people were without power in the Houston region. In Fort Worth, about 100,000 people were told to boil their water after a treatment plant lost power. Those who could not boil water were encouraged to use bottled water. Officials are working to set up water bottle distribution centers. Freezing rain made travel dangerous, as nearly an inch of ice was measured in Frenchburg, Ky. — more than triple the amount needed to weigh down branches and power lines.

More than two dozen people have died so far, mostly in Texas, in weather-related incidents since last week. The winter storm has led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights, including those from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

NAACP and multiple congressmen sue Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani over Capitol riot

The NAACP and a Washington, D.C. civil rights law firm filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against former President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani and two right-wing groups for violating the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act.

Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi filed a 32-page lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., saying Trump conspired with Giuliani and others to spark the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. The Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, who are named in the lawsuit, are accused of participating in the violence against Congress in violation of the Ku Klux Klan Act.

The lawsuit said, “The statute was enacted in response to violence and intimidation in which the Ku Klux Klan and other organizations were engaged during that time period. The defendants conspired to prevent, by force, intimidation and threats, the plaintiff, as a member of Congress, from discharging his official duties to approve the count of votes cast by members of the Electoral College following the presidential election held in November 2020.”  NAACP President Derrick Johnson added that Trump inspired White supremacist groups to take action against lawmakers, saying Trump’s efforts sought “to disenfranchise African-American voters” by claiming there was massive voter fraud in locations that had large Black and minority populations.
