Ashley McBryde and Elle King team up for performance of ‘Long Haired Country Boy’ at the Ryman

Elle King invited Ashley McBryde on stage to perform a cover “Long Haired Country Boy” at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.  King’s concert at The Ryman included songs from her own catalog, as well as some classic covers.

Fans were pleasantly surprised when King invited McBryde up to the stage. King said to McBryde. “Come on out! I just haven’t seen you in so long and I heard you were here. You know this song…You look good, girl.”  King then addresses the audience: “I’ll tell you what, she’s can help me sing this. She didn’t know about this.”  The artists performed their version of “Long Haired Country Boy” by the Charlie Daniels Band, originally released in 1974.   You can take a look at McBryde and King’s performance – here.

Also joining King on stage was Miranda Lambert, who teamed up with King for their duet “Drunk and I Don’t Wanna Go Home” (which you can see here.)  King also debuted a new song with Dierks Bentley, who came on stage to help King perform “Worth a Shot.” (which you can take a look at – here.)

The trailer for ‘Fantastic Beasts 3: The Secrets of Dumbledore’ is released

The new ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ trailer has been released. The “Harry Potter” spinoff sequel stars Jude Law, Eddie Redmayne, and Mads Mikkelsen, who takes over the villainous role of Grindelwald from Johnny Depp.  The supporting cast is rounded out by Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol, Katherine Waterson, Jessica Williams, and Callum Turner.

“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore’ begins as Dumbledore gets news about Grindelwald’s impending war. “The world as we know it is coming undone,” Dumbledore says to Newt. “If we’re to defeat him, you’ll have to trust me.

The third film in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ trilogy was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming officially began in September 2020 after a months-long delay, wrapping up in February 2021. In the previous two movies, Johnny Depp played the role of Gellert Grindewald. In November 2020, Johnny announced that he would not be returning to the role, saying that he had been “asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts, and I have respected and agreed to that request.” Shortly after, Mads Mikkelsen was announced as the new Grindelwald.

Amanda Bynes files petition to end her conservatorship

Actress Amanda Bynes, 35, has filed a petition to end her nearly decade-long conservatorship. The conservatorship had been established to give her parents full control of her personal and financial affairs.

Bynes was first placed under her parents’ temporary conservatorship in 2013 after starting a small fire in a neighbor’s driveway in Ventura County’s Thousand Oaks, and being hospitalized for a 72-hour mental health evaluation hold. The incident followed a year of erratic behavior by Bynes, who was charged at the time for driving under the influence and reckless endangerment (those charges were later dropped.).  After that temporary conservatorship lapsed, Amanda’s mother, Lynn Bynes, secured another one in 2014.  Bynes later shared that she had been diagnosed with bipolar and manic depressive disorders, but was doing well with medication and the help of a psychiatrist and psychologist. Tamar Arminak, an attorney for Bynes’ parents, said they support their daughter’s desire to take back control of her life and finances.

The former Nickelodeon star filed her request with California’s Ventura County Superior Court. Bynes’ attorney, David A. Esquibias, said in a statement: “Amanda wishes to terminate her conservatorship. She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary.”

A hearing for Bynes’ request is scheduled for March 22.

Airbnb announces they will provide free temporary housing for Ukrainian refugees

Airbnb said Monday it would provide free temporary housing to as many as 100,000 refugees leaving Ukraine. The announcement came shortly after the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said Monday that more than 500,000 refugees have now fled Ukraine. That number has increased from the 150,000 that had crossed Ukraine’s borders by Saturday.

Airbnb said in a statement that the housing will be provided by the company along with donors to its refugee fund, with along with “the generosity of hosts” on the platform.  The company has sent initial letters offering its assistance to countries including Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania.

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said in a statement on Twitter that the company needs more help from people who can offer their homes and provided a link for those who would like to sign up to be involved.   He added: “We know that hosts and guests on Airbnb around the world will be eager to stand up and assist this massive effort to help those fleeing Ukraine. Airbnb.org will work directly through nonprofits on the ground, who are responsible for booking and coordinating stays for refugee guests, regardless of nationality, race, ethnicity, or how they identify.”

Multiple states, including California, Oregon, and Washington, to end school mask mandates

Students in California, Oregon and Washington will no longer be required to wear masks at school as part of new indoor mask policies all three states announced jointly on Monday. The three governors said in a joint statement: “With declining case rates and hospitalizations across the West, California, Oregon and Washington are moving together to update their masking guidance.”  Separately, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said Sunday that the statewide school mask mandate will end Wednesday, March 2nd.

The new guidance will make face coverings a recommendation rather than a requirement at most indoor places in California starting today (Tuesday, March 1st) and at schools on March 12, regardless of vaccination status. In Washington and Oregon, all the requirements will lift on March 12. Federal mask requirements will still apply in high-risk indoor settings such as public transportation, airports and taxis. Rules for other high-risk indoor settings could also vary by state.

The announcement also comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased the federal mask guidance Friday, saying the majority of Americans don’t need to wear masks in many indoor public places, including schools. The new CDC guidance bases recommendations for restrictions such as masking on a new set of measures, with less focus on positive test results and more on what’s happening at hospitals. Under the new system, the CDC said that more than 70% of Americans live in places where the coronavirus poses a low or medium threat to hospitals and therefore can stop wearing masks in most indoor places. The CDC had endorsed universal masking in schools regardless of virus levels in the community since July, but it now recommends masks in schools only in counties at high risk.

The Chicks announce 2022 North American tour

The Chicks have announced a North American tour, kicking off on June 14 at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri and making stops in Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Los Angeles, and more before concluding at the Gorge in George, Washington on Aug. 13.

Patty Griffin will support most dates, with Jenny Lewis opening on select dates in July. This will be The Chicks first tour since they released Gaslighter, their eighth album, in July 2020. Gaslighter arrived nearly 15 years after 2006’s Taking the Long Way, along with a name change for the group. The Chicks are also set to appear at Bonnaroo alongside J. Cole, Tool, Stevie Nicks, and more in June.

Brooks & Dunn reveal 2022 ‘Reboot’ tour dates

Brooks & Dunn headlined their first nationwide tour in a decade in 2021, with an amphitheater tour across the U.S. named after their 2019 album ‘Reboot.’  Now, the duo have announced a new leg of 2022 arena tour dates.

The 2022 “Reboot” tour dates will kick off May 5 in in Evansville, Ind., wrapping up on June 25 in Detroit, Michigan. Joining Brooks & Dunn on the road in 2022 will include opening acts such as Jon Pardi, Gabby Barrett, Walker Hayes, Jordan Davis, Riley Green, Tenille Townes, Tyler Booth, Morgan Wade, Dillon Carmichael, King Calaway, Jackson Dean and Tyler Braden. Two supporting acts will join Brooks & Dunn at each stop on the tour.

Tickets for Brooks & Dunn’s 2022 Reboot dates go on sale March 4 at 10AM local time, except for one Nashville date in June which goes on sale March 18.  For more information, head to www.brooks-dunn.com.

Take a look at Daniel Radcliffe as ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic in first look at biopic

Daniel Radcliffe dons a Hawaiian shirt to portray musician “Weird Al” Yankovic in Weird: The Weird Al Yankovic Story. Radcliffe also rocks curly hair, glasses and is playing a piano accordion in the first photos released from the set of the film.

Yankovic said on Instagram alongside the photo of Radcliffe: “It never fails — we’re trying to shoot a movie here, and this cosplayer weirdo tries to crash our set. Ugh! I mean, I love my fans, but… boundaries, people! Don’t worry, we had security throw him out.”

Set to premiere on The Roku Channel, the biopic will explore the life and career of Yankovic, who is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. Yankovic produced and co-wrote the script with Eric Appel, who also serves as director and executive producer.

Take a look at Andrew Garfield in the trailer for ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’

Hulu has released the first teaser trailer for the limited series Under the Banner of Heaven, starring Andrew Garfield Garfield portrays a police detective who is investigating a double murder in a rural community.  The series also stars Sam Worthington, Wyatt Russell and Rory Culkin.

Under the Banner of Heaven is based on the best-selling, true-crime book by Jon Krakauer. Dustin Lance Black wrote the screen adaptation, with David Mackenzie directing, and Ron Howard and Brian Grazer producing.

A synopsis of the series reads: “A devout detective’s faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder that seems to be connected to an esteemed Utah family’s spiral into [Latter-Day Saints] fundamentalism and their distrust in the government. Andrew Garfield will star as Pyre, an LDS elder who is committed to his Church and family but begins to question some of the Church’s teachings through his contact with a suspected murderer. Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as Brenda, a young faithful Mormon who is the victim of a brutal murder.”
