U.S. Marshals service offers $10,000 reward for information on escaped Alabama inmate and corrections officer

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding a missing inmate and corrections officer in Alabama. The service took up the case of escaped Lauderdale County Jail inmate Casey Cole White, 38, and Assistant Director of Corrections Vicki White, who went missing after they left the jail together on Friday morning. Despite sharing a last name, the two are not related. U.S. Marshal Marty Keely encouraged anyone with information on Casey White’s location to contact the U.S. Marshal’s Service but warned that he should not be approached, as he is considered dangerous:  “Do not attempt to apprehend this fugitive,” Keely said.

Casey White and Vicki White disappeared at 9:41 a.m. Friday, after Vicki White told colleagues she was taking the inmate to the Lauderdale County Courthouse for a mental evaluation by herself.  However, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said there were no court appearances scheduled for the man and transporting him alone was “a strict violation of policy.”  In addition, Vicki White also told colleagues she was going to seek medical attention after dropping Casey White off at the courthouse because she was feeling unwell; her patrol vehicle was found in a shopping center parking lot less than 2 hours later and the inmate never returned to custody.

Casey White was charged with murder, murder for hire, and burglary in relation to the 2015 death of 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway at her home in Rogersville, Alabama. Casey White had confessed to the murder and was awaiting trial at the jail. according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He is believed to be a serious threat to the public.

Casey White is described by the Marshals Service as being 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 260 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information about Casey White or the location of Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office Assistant Director of Corrections Vicki White is encouraged to call the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102. One person dead, five others injured in shooting at Mississippi Mudbug Festival

Authorities said that one person was killed and five others were injured when multiple shooters opened fire Saturday at the Mississippi Mudbug Festival in Jackson, Mississippi. The person who died is suspected to have been one of the shooters and was shot by a law enforcement officer responding to the scene at the state fairgrounds.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday during the Second Annual Mississippi Mudbug Festival in Jackson. Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said other people injured were hospitalized in stable condition Sunday morning, including a police officer. Jones posted on Twitter early Sunday morning the injured “appear to be stable at this time and don’t appear to be directly involved in the shooting or circumstances that led to the shooting.”  Four victims were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment, Jones said.

The second annual Mudbug Festival was billed as a family fun event with live bands, carnival rides and a crawfish boil and eating contest. This year’s Mudbug Festival featured musical headliners, including Blue Oyster Cult and Laine Hardy. Blues musician Bobby Rush had been scheduled to close out the festival with a performance Sunday night. Sunday’s events at the Mississippi Mudbug Festival, which was supposed to be the festival’s final day, were canceled.

Recovered at the scene were two rifles, one pistol and a “large magnitude of different-caliber shell casings.” Two juveniles were detained, but no charges have been filed in the incident, authorities said. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the probe due to an officer being involved in the shooting.

The Judds are inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame one day after Naomi Judd passes away at age 76

The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, just one day after Naomi Judd died unexpectedly at age 76. The country music world mourned Naomi Judd while also celebrating this year’s four Hall of Fame inductees: The Judds, Ray Charles, Eddie Bayers and Pete Drake.

The Judds — mom Naomi, and daughter Wynonna Judd — were among the most popular duos of the 1980s, scoring 14 No. 1 hits during their nearly three-decade career.  Wynonna and her sister, actor Ashley Judd,  accepted the induction amid tears, holding onto each other and reciting a Bible verse together. “I’m sorry that she couldn’t hang on until today,” Ashley Judd said of her mother to the crowd while crying.  Wynonna Judd talked about the family gathering as they said goodbye to her and she and Ashley Judd recited Psalm 23.  Said Wynonna: “Though my heart is broken I will continue to sing.” On the eve of the induction ceremonhy, the family said in a statement that Naomi Judd died at the age of 76 due to “the disease of mental illness.”

Many performers paid tribute to the Judds during the ceremony, including country singer Carly Pearce performing The Judds 1986 hit “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days),” and the duo of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings covering their No 1 hit from 1989 “Young Love (Strong Love)”. Tommy Simms sang their classic song, “Love Can Build a Bridge;” Brandi Carlile had been scheduled to sing “Love Can Build a Bridge” at the medallion ceremony, but had to withdraw from the performance after being diagnoses with COVID-19.  Carlile posted an Instagram video Sunday with an at-home rendering of the tune, recorded alongside her daughter.

Watch Carrie Underwood perform with Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose at Stagecoach Festival

Carrie Underwood surprised fans during her headlining set Saturday at the Stagecoach Festival when she was joined by Axl Rose to perform a pair of Guns N’ Roses classics.  Just after Underwood sang the opening verse and chorus of “Sweet Child O’ Mine” with her band, she announced to the crowd. “Welcome to the greatest night of my life. Give it up for Axl Rose!”  After the duo’s performance of ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ wrapped up, the band immediately launched into another GNR hit, “Paradise City” and Underwood told the crowd, “You thought we were finished?

Underwood is a longtime GNR fan, who frequently sang “Paradise City” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” in concert earlier in her career. She has long been vocal about her love of GNR; during an appearance on The Tonight Show in 2020, she shared that she ditched her family following her own long tour in order to see GNR in concert.  Underwood said of the GNR reunion: “It was kind of a lifelong dream of mine I never thought would happen.”  Following that show, Underwood actually met Rose backstage and said. “It’s hard to meet your heroes, because I do consider him someone who taught me how to sing. But he was super cool and great and nice and we talked. We’re best friends.”
